Chapter 11
Later, someone called an ambulance.
I heard Sierra miscarried from the fall and had to undergo a hysterectomy. She would never be able to have children again.
Two weeks later, Jade sent me a link to a live stream. Sierra was online, ranting about Marcus. She seemed spaced out, murmuring to herself. Honestly, she looked completely unhinged.
"That scumbag! He used me for money and pleasure, and now I've lost my uterus! I curse him to die in pieces!"
"After my miscarriage, he didn't call once! He didn't care at all! Bankrupt, bankrupt—spirits of heaven and earth, I curse him to go bankrupt!"
"Abracadabra! Bankrupt! Bankrupt!"
The comment section was flooded with two main reactions:
"She's completely lost it. She really needs a therapist."
"Someone quick, tag the director of the psych ward."
I sat in my rocking chair, eating watermelon and watching the stream with deep amusement.
Three months later, it was time for the second court hearing. Just as Lawyer Lin had predicted, the judge granted the divorce immediately. I received every penny I was owed, and I retained full custody of my son.
I walked out of the courthouse with a smile, said my goodbyes to Lawyer Lin, and made plans to celebrate over dinner with Jade.
Marcus quickly caught up to me, his voice dripping with malice. "Even if we're divorced, there's one thing you can never change. Leo will always have my blood running through his veins! He will always be my son. When he finds out how you destroyed his father and ruined his family, do you really think he'll ever forgive you?"
I paused, then smiled and fired back. "In Leo's world, there will be absolutely no trace of you, Marcus. So how would any of that even matter? You think our son is a weapon you can use against me? The child I brought into this world will only ever be my strongest armor."
Marcus's face darkened with a threatening scowl. "What man would ever want to be a stepdad? To sleep with a woman I've already worn out. Go ahead—try to find one. I'll ruin every relationship you ever have. Let's see who lasts longer."
Bam!
Before I could even speak, Jade punched Marcus right in the face. She was a black belt in taekwondo. Marcus spat blood, his face turning livid.
"Jade! Are you insane? How dare you hit me!"
Jade rolled her shoulders and sneered. "I've been wanting to punch you for ages. Go ahead and sue me. I welcome it."
Marcus froze, his expression twisting with hatred and resentment. He didn't dare sue Jade. He was too scared.
"Let's go. Time for drinks," I said, taking Jade's hand.
We drove away from the courthouse together. I was finally ready to embrace my new life.
